Niall Tansey, Partner, has successfully acted for businessman and former Presidential Candidate, Peter Casey, in a High Court Defamation action.
The case related to a defamatory post published on Facebook in April 2023 by an Acupuncturist and general election candidate from Buncrana, Co Donegal.
In his judgement delivered on 4 December 2024, Mr Justice Nolan found that the statements posted were “untrue” and they were “defamatory and malicious”.
He awarded Mr Casey damages of €140,000 and also issued a Correction Order requiring the Defendant to correct the record.
